2009 Convention Highlights

The 68th Annual General Meeting and Convention took place at the Delta Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan. This year's Convention introduced an online registration system and was attended by 277 participants. Service and Service Management was the educational focus of this year's meeting. The Convention committee, chaired by Warren Kotzer (WarDale Equipment Ltd., Yorkton, Preeceville and Langenburg Saskatchewan), planned an excellent program filled with informative speakers and excellent entertainment.

The 2009 convention marked the signing of a new agreement between Canada West Equipment Dealers Association and Farm Credit Canada. For details on this new partnership, visit the Financial Services page.

Dealer principals, service managers and service department personnel spent sessions with a recruitment panel, Don Layh, Dr. Weber and Jeff Mowatt. These presentations were very thorough, insightful and useful.

The ladies program was a wine pairing session with CJ Katz while Brandt and AgriCard brought the Thursday evening entertainment - "Jeopardy". Big Daddy Tazz wrapped up the convention as the Friday evening banquet entertainment.

Awards

The Western Producer's award for Dealership of the year went to Maple Farm Equipment. Bill Sowa was nominated by the dealers as the recipient of the Bill Lipsey Merit Award. Markusson New Holland earned the Safety and Loss award, presented by Federated Insurance. Ernie Prusak was recognized for his long-time commitment to CWEDA members.
